a. For trailers with a GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) of less than 750 kg – no brakes are required
b. For trailers with a GVM of 750 kg to 1999 kg; Mechanical Brakes are required. (M)
c. For trailers with a GVM over 2000 kg, electric/ hydraulic breakaway systems are required (HB)
